Slow cooker meat lovers pasta sauce

Nothing says home like walking into the door and smelling pasta sauce cooking on stove. It's just one of those classic meals that we all seemed to grow up with either as something that was made at home or came out of a can that was purchased from a supermarket. However I think we can all agree that the smell of tomato sauce that has been cooking for a long period of time is one of those things that make us immediately hungry along with freshly baked bread or bacon. Here is a recipe for a slow cooked pasta sauce that uses italian sausage and ground beef as its proteins. It is a great favorite at home and serves 4-6


1 Tbsp Olive oil

1 medium yellow onion

1/2 lb ground italian sausage

1 lb of ground beef

1 1/2 tsp dried provincial italian herbs

1 tsp marjoram

1 28oz can of classico pasta sauce- any flavor

1 6 oz can of tomato paste

1 15o can of diced tomatoes

1/4 tsp dried thyme

1/4 tsp dried basil

1/2 tsp dried oregano

1 1/2 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp sugar

salt & pepper


1: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium hot heat. Cook the onion and sausage together until the sausage is browned. Put them into the slow cooked and then add the ground beef to the skillet. Mix in the italian seasoning, 1 tsp of garlic powder and the marjoram under the beef is browned. Put in the slow cooker.

2: Place the pasta sauce, tomato paste, diced tomatoes, thyme, oregano, sugar and the rest of the garlic powder to the skillet and cook for a few minutes of a low heat to allow the ingredients to blend together. The place in the slow cooker and mix altogether.

3: Cook on low for 8 hrs. When finished, check flavor and add salt & pepper to taste. Cook pasta and serve.
